ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. - The McDaniel College women's golf team opened its spring schedule with a fourth-place finish in the McDaniel Spring Invite at The Bridges Golf Club on Sunday.
The Green Terror posted its second-best score of the season with a 429, six strokes behind Centennial Conference rival Dickinson. Gettysburg won the event with a 360, seven strokes ahead of St. John Fisher.
Sophomore
Vaishali Bhatt posted her fourth top-10 finish in seven events this season as she finished with three pars en route to a 96, including a 44 on the front nine to finish in a tie for 10th with Gettysburg's Abby McNonagle.
Bhatt's 96 was the sixth-best round by a Green Terror this season as she now owns four of the top six.
Freshman
Abby Wesche finished in a tie for 13th with Stevenson's Grace Kochan with a 100. Wesche recorded the team's lone birdie on the par-4, 294-yard second hole. She also added one par on the par-4, 328-yard 12th.
Freshman
Callie Nelson finished one stroke off her season-low with a 105 to place 16th. She recorded two pars on the first and third as she finished one shot back of her mark set at the Dickinson Invitational on Sept. 24, 2022.
In her first collegiate appearance, freshman
Dariel Gray finished 21st with a 120, including a par on the par-5, 456-yard 15th. Junior
Zoey Smalls came in right behind in 22nd.
In her first event this season, junior
Olivia Vanreusel, who is a also member of the McDaniel field hockey team, finished 23rd.
The Green Terror return to action next Saturday, April 1 when they they head to Fox Chase Golf Club, site of this year's Centennial Conference Women's Golf Championships, for a tri-match with Dickinson and Franklin & Marshall beginning at 11 a.m.
