CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Senior
Mike Miller (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) placed 54th out of 357 runners to lead the Gettysburg College men's cross country team on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional, hosted by DeSales University.
On a sunny but cold day, Miller was timed at 27:28 for the 8,000-meter course. He helped the Bullets place 21st out of 52 teams.
Seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University captured the team title with 76 points while fourth-ranked Haverford College came in second with 84 points. Harley Moyer from Washington & Jefferson College took the top individual honors in a time of 25:55.
Gettysburg's second finisher was sophomore
Dylan McKeever (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East), who placed 65th in 27:39. Junior
Sam Sheldon (Tully, N.Y./Tully) took 133rd in 28:43 while senior
Alex Petrecca (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) and junior
Aren Heitmann (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) rounded out the team scoring. Petrecca came in 160th in 29:01 while Heitmann was close behind in 164th with a time of 29:04.
Finishing as displacers were senior
Matt Robinson (Taneytown, Md./Pinkerton Academy [N.H.]), who placed right behind Heitmann in 165th with a time of 29:05, and junior
Jonathan Gronke (Morris Plains, N.J./Morristown), who was 170th in 29:12.
The race marked the final meet of the season for the Bullets.
