WINCHESTER, Va. – The Ursinus Men's Cross Country won the team title for the men's 8k team title in the Hornet Harrier Invitational hosted by Shenadoah University at the Kernstown Battlefield on Saturday morning.
The Bears tied with Washington & Lee for the team title but earned the tiebreaker after having a higher finishing sixth runner and having a higher top five score ead to head with the Generals. Ursinus saw three earn top-10 finishes in the 8k race and two in the 6k race with a split field on Saturday morning.
Junior
Tucker McGrath led the Bears in the 8k race with a third place finish behind a time of 27:13.1. Sophomore
Paul Faggioli followed with a seventh place finish on a time of 27:32.0 and first-year
Liam Johnston finished ninth on a time of 27:37.9, continuing an impressive start to his collegiate career.
Sophomore
Christian Rosado placed 12th overall with a time of 28:08.2 and freshman
AJ Luthra finished in 21st behind his season-best time of 29:05.0. Senior
Steve Wilkins earned a 33rd place finish with his time of 30:01.9 and junior
Ean Chasinoff rounded out the Bears 8k runners in 38th with his time of 30:12.3
In the 6k race, five runners combined for a third place finish and were led by sophomore
Ethan Chambers with a seventh place finish on his time of 20:35.8. Sophomore
Jack Fisher followed in ninth with a time of 20:41.2.
The final three Bears in the race finished all in a row from 13th to 15th place. Senior
Payton Stanziani led the trio with his time of 21:09.0 and a pair of freshman in
Tom Driscoll (21:23.7) and
Justice Scheidel (21:24.9)
Ursinus has the next week off before returning to action on Saturday, October 8th as they will compete in the DeSales Invitational at 10:30 a.m.
