HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's basketball team honored the careers of seniors Jack Cork, Joe Hartman, Jonathan Lang, Matthew Reichwein, Grayson Roth, Michael Wiper, and Joe Wujciak prior to Saturday's home game against McDaniel. Unfortunately for the Fords, the shots just did not seem to fall their way during the second half as the Green Terror swept the season series with an 81-66 victory.

Three members of the Fords' senior class finished the game in double figures as Hartman (14 points), Wujciak (12 points), and Cork (10 points) all reached that mark. Jesse Turkson led the Fords with 15 points, but those four double figure scorers were not enough as McDaniel also had four double figure outings, headlined by Dragan Hornatko's 28 points off the bench.

Haverford started the game off well and led for most of the first half. After an early layup from McDaniel, back-to-back jumpers in the paint from Cork gave the Fords a lead that they would not relinquish through the entire first half. McDaniel tied the game at six-all four minutes into the contest, but an 8-0 run by the Fords - featuring four points from Hartman - gave the hosts a comfortable advantage.

The Green Terror cut their deficit down to three points on a couple of occasions but Haverford was still up by eight late in the opening half before McDaniel knocked down a three pointer just before the teams retreated to the locker room. Haverford finished the period shooting 53.3% from the field while knocking down four of its nine attempts from beyond the arc.

With the halftime lead, the Fords went cold from the field coming out of the halftime break as they just could not seem to get their shots to fall over the final 20 minutes. Turkson scored a layup right out of the break and had a three-point play with just over two minutes gone by in the half, but the Fords went scoreless over the next 7:14 of playing time before Wujciak got a layup to go in the paint for an old-fashioned three-point play of his own. Facing a double-digit deficit with 8:32 remaining in regulation, the Fords were never able to generate enough offense to climb back in the contest as they shot just 35.5% from the field during the second period. On the other end of the floor, McDaniel shot 65.4% from the field during the final 20 minutes and made 19 trips to the free throw line.

With the potential to clinch the No. 3 seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament still alive, the Fords will play their final home regular season game of the year next Wednesday at 8 p.m. against No. 1 Swarthmore. Haverford closes the regular season against No. 7 Johns Hopkins next Saturday. A win against either of those two teams (or a Muhlenberg loss in the final week) would give Haverford a bye into the semifinals of the Centennial Conference Tournament.
