The Muhlenberg volleyball team made it four wins in its last five matches with a 3-0 home sweep of Moravian.
The Mules (5-6) trailed by one point on three separate occasions early in the first set but were otherwise in control for most of the night en route to the 25-19, 25-18, 25-22 victory. It was their eighth straight win, and fifth straight shutout, against the Greyhounds (3-10).
Muhlenberg's top three hitters were efficient with their attacks. Sophomore
Megan Ray recorded 11 kills with only one error for a .435 percentage, and senior
Maggie Enestvedt hit .444 with 10 kills in 18 attempts. Senior
Tara Register hit .400 and added 16 digs.
Freshman
Caleya Tereska led the defense, which held Moravian to a .078 hitting percentage, with a career-high 20 digs.
Ray and Enestvedt had four kills apiece in the opening set, most of which the Mules led by 2-3 points. It was 21-19 before Muhlenberg reeled off the last four points, one coming on a block by Enestvedt and senior
Madison Forrest.
The second and third sets played out similarly; it was 22-18 in the second before the Mules scored the final three points on kills by Enestvedt and senior
Laura Boll (pictured above) and a solo block on set point by junior
Alycia Long.
Muhlenberg extended a 21-18 lead to 24-18 with three straight points in the third set, only to have the Greyhounds stave off elimination by scoring the next four points. Ray finally ended the set, and the match, by blasting a ball through the Moravian block.
Freshman
Emma Eglinton finished with 20 assists and a pair of aces, while senior
Gabrielle Neuman dished out 16 assists.
