The Muhlenberg wrestling team broke the school record for wins in a season with a 33-13 defeat of McDaniel.
The Mules dropped their second match of the day, 29-20 to Gettysburg, leaving their dual-meet record at 18-7 heading into next weekend's Centennial Conference Championships. The previous mark of 17 wins was achieved in both 2001 and 2002.
Juniors
Brian Jamison (157) and
Dylan Schwartz (165) and senior
Gennaro Cerminara (197) all went 2-0 on the day. Cerminara's two wins, including one by technical fall, pushed his career total to 84, good for a tie for eighth place on the program's all-time list.
Muhlenberg trailed McDaniel 13-3 through four bouts before winning the final six to storm away with the win. The Mules' lone win at the lower weights came at 141, where junior
Austin Sherman scored three third-period takedowns for a 7-6 decision.
Jamison began the Mule run with his fifth pin of the season, and junior
Scott Schaeffer ended it with his eighth pin. Junior 184-pounder
Cam Wasson needed only 61 seconds to flatten his opponent, his 13th career pin out of 16 wins.
Schwartz
(pictured above) recorded the fastest pin of his career - 46 seconds - in the Gettysburg match, improving his career record in CC duals to 9-1.
