The Muhlenberg men's basketball team picked up its first Centennial Conference win of the season in resounding fashion, setting a school record with 16 three-pointers in a 96-58 win at Haverford.
The 96 points were the most scored by the Mules (3-3, 1-1) in a CC regulation game since a 99-59 win against Haverford during the 2005-06 season. That 38-point margin of victory also was the biggest for the Mules in a CC game in 13 years.
Muhlenberg made 15 three-pointers in a game three times previously, including once last year and once this year.
Freshman
Dan Gaines led four Mule players in the double figures with 18 points. Senior
Erik Werheim scored 15 points, two off his career high, and junior
Matt Gnias, making his season debut, added 13.
Sophomore
Michael Morreale recorded his second career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Haverford (2-4, 0-2) led 3-2 early before the Mules went on a 10-0 run that featured four points and an assist from GniasÂ
(pictured above). The Fords never got closer than six points the rest of the game.
Already ahead by 20 points at the half, Muhlenberg shot 54.3 percent in the final 20 minutes to extend its lead.
Freshman
Nicholas Chudy scored all eight of his points in a game-ending 11-0 run, and freshman
Nate Henty Brown hit the record-breaking three-pointer with 43 seconds left.
Henty Brown and freshmen
Noah Watson and
Dallas Hoffman all finished with nine points.
