SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 15 Swarthmore College men's basketball team dropped a Centennial Conference matchup versus Muhlenberg College, 76-60, on Thursday night.
George Visconti led the way for the Garnet with 15 points and two rebounds, while
Aidan Godfrey grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and added nine points off the bench.
Conor Harkins and
Colin Shaw each contributed with eight points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet jumped out the gates with an early 12-4 lead to open the game. Swarthmore rallied for 10 unanswered points during the stretch - including four points from Visconti. However, Muhlenberg battled back from its early deficit to regain the lead with a three-pointer at the 5:30 mark, 23-22.
- After regaining the lead, the Mules scored eight unanswered points to expand its advantage to nine with 3:26 remaining in the opening stanza. The Garnet ended the half strong with a bucket from
Abass Sallah and a
Ryan Ingram three-pointer to trim its deficit to five points. Muhlenberg then added a layup to take a seven-point advantage into intermission, 36-29.
- Early in the second half, Swarthmore pulled within four points following back-to-back buckets from Ingram and Godfrey. However, Muhlenberg countered with a 13-7 run to build its lead back to double digits. The Mules held a firm advantage for the remainder of the contest, while leading by as many as 21 points.
