ROCHESTER, N.Y. - McDaniel College men's golf freshman
Charlie Dolan had the best round of the weekend, and won the Fred Kravetz Invitational by three strokes. Green Terror matched their season-low with a second-round 291.
After a first-round performance that had the team in fifth heading into Saturday, every Green Terror golfer improved their scoring to move them into second-place behind Rochester University.
Dolan opened up the first round on Friday with a 74. He had the lowest score of any McDaniel golfer, but was still a few shots back from first. On Saturday, he birdied the first hole, then followed that up with a pair of birdies on four and five to jump up the leader board. He ran into a little bit of trouble with a bogey on eight, but immediately responded with another birdie on the 500yd Par 5 ninth hole.
Dolan fell back to 1-under with a double-bogey on the 11th Hole, then birdied 12, followed by another bogey to remain at 1-under heading into the final five holes. He was in first-place after the hot start, but Colin Cusa from Skidmore College was closing in on him. Dolan steadied himself and birdied two more holes en route to a 3-under 69 on Saturday to win the tournament.
