NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. - Swarthmore College opened the 2021-22 season at the Gauntlet at Old Homestead Golf Club. Swarthmore finished in 4th of 11 squads while carding a 605 on the par-72 course. The Garnet hit the links for the first time in 18 months.
Swarthmore recorded a 306 on Saturday but improved by seven strokes on Sunday.
Sophomore
Jackson Murphy led the way with a 149, which was good enough for a sixth overall finish. He shot a 76 on Saturday and a team best 73 on Sunday.
Ankur Malik carded a 150, which allowed the senior to finish tied for seventh in the tournament. He shot a 74 on Saturday and a 76 on Sunday.
Michael Brown carded a score of 81 on Saturday, but finished with a 73 on Sunday. The senior, who shot a 154, had a team-high six birdies in the tournament.
Ben Lee shot a 154, while
Alex Cheriel shot a 155.
Swarthmore sends a team to the Elizabethtown Fall Invitational on Tuesday and then hosts the Frederick W. Anton III invite at Rock Manor on Sunday.
