NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Gettysburg College men's golf team opened the spring on the right foot at the Barefoot Invitational, taking home the team title on The Dye Course of the Barefoot Resort in Myrtle Beach on Wednesday.
Gettysburg carded a 305 as a team on the way to its fourth tournament crown of the season. The Bullets topped a field of five teams.
Individual placements were unknown at press time, but the Gettysburg golfers fared well in windy conditions in their spring opener. Seniors
Danny Harcourt (Fanwood, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) and
Dane Sethre-Hofstad (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) tied for team honors with two-over 74s on the course. Sophomore
Jimmy Harcourt (Fanwood, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood) finished one stroke short of his personal best with a 77.
Senior
Christian Haldeman (Center Valley, Pa./Moravian Academy) and junior
Ethan Murphy (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) rounded out the starting lineup with 80 and 85, respectively.
Competing individually, sophomore
Quinn Greene (New Milford, Conn./Canterbury School) led the way with an 80. Freshman
Hayden Moffat (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) carded an 82, while sophomore
Daniel Rieger (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) and freshman
Tristan Hochman (Westport, Conn./Staples) shot 83 and 84, respectively.
The Bullets wrap up their spring training trip this week and return to competition at the Dickinson College Invitational at the Carlisle Barracks Golf Course on March 25 at noon.
