GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Current student-athletes and alumni squared off in the 42nd Annual Cross Country Alumni Race at Gettysburg College on Saturday.
 
The current Bullets swept both 5K races with the women claiming an 18-45 victory and the men coming in just ahead of the alums 26-31.
 
Senior Sarah Rinehart (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) led the way in the women's race with a time of 20:16.9. Freshman Amy Milner (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) finished second at 21:00.2 followed by the top alumna finisher Elizabeth Hilfrank '18 at 21:23.1.
 
The women's race featured a total of 12 alumnae, including Marylynne Aldridge Caruso '64 and daughter Christine Caruso Riggs '89.
 
The men's race was a battle from start-to-finish with junior Sam Sheldon (Tully, N.Y./Tully) and senior Alex Petrecca (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) finishing 1-2 at 16:28.9 and 16:44.8, respectively. Jeff Butterworth '10 (16:51.4), Jackson Davis '16 (16:59.7), and Dickson Mercer '04 (17:00.7) grabbed the next three spots for the alumni.
 
A total of 26 alumni ran in the men's race, including Dave Harvey '86, who has competed in every alumni race since 1986.
