HERSHEY, Pa. – Senior
Danny Harcourt (Fanwood, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) finished in a tie for second individually and Gettysburg College tied for sixth as a team following the conclusion of the final round of the Hershey Cup held at the Hershey Country Club East Course on Monday.
Gettysburg was eight strokes off its round one pace with a 312 on day two and finished in a tie with McDaniel College for sixth with 616. Wittenberg University was the lone team to break 300 on both days as the fifth-ranked Tigers carded 297 on Monday for a total score of 592, beating out Carnegie Mellon University and Piedmont College by 18 strokes.
Harcourt just missed his 11th career title, finishing one stroke behind Steve Nicholas from Franklin & Marshall College. The Gettysburg senior entered the day with a one-stroke lead over Nicholas after carding a one-under 70 on Sunday. He closed with a five-over 76 and a total score of 146, while Nicholas posted a 74 and 145 for the tournament. Wittenberg's Cameron Willis finished tied with Harcourt.
Harcourt was five-over through his first eight holes, but he closed the round strong with 11 consecutive pars. It was his eighth top-five finish of the season and the 31st of his career.
Sophomore
Quinn Greene (New Milford, Conn./Canterbury School) was Gettysburg's second-best finisher, shooting 77 for the second consecutive day and tying for 18th with a score of 154. He birdied two of his first three holes on Monday.
Senior
Dane Sethre-Hofstad (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) picked up his third birdie of the event on the par-4, 356-yard fifth hole and carded a 79 in round two. For the tournament, he totaled 155 and finished tied for 20th.
Sophomore
Ethan Murphy (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) dropped six strokes in round two to card an 80 and finished tied for 70th overall with a 166. He posted a birdie on the par-4, 382-yard seventh hole. Senior
Christian Haldeman (Center Valley, Pa./Moravian Academy) birdied the second hole and finished tied for 72nd after scoring 86 on Monday and 167 for the tournament.
Gettysburg returns to action at the Moravian College Invitational this Thursday at the Southmoore Golf Course.
