GETTYSBURG, Pa.—No. 24 Swarthmore College Women's Soccer punched its ticket into the Centennial Conference postseason tournament with a 1-0 win over Gettysburg College on the road on Saturday night.
By virtue of the win, the Garnet (6-1-1 Centennial) have guaranteed that they will finish as one of the five seeds in the Centennial Conference playoffs with two games remaining on the schedule in the regular season.
Swarthmore out-shot the Bullets 15-6 on Saturday and found the game's only goal in the 76th minute. The Garnet earned a corner kick on the right side of the field. Sophomore Amy Harris drove the out-swung kick into the box and found the head of Grace Taylor near the six. Taylor tucked the header into the upper right corner of the goal for her second tally of the season.
Amy Shmoys and Chantal Reyes split time in goal for the Garnet with each saving a shot in 45 minutes of action.
Gettysburg slid to 4-2-2 in league play with the loss.
Swarthmore concludes its regular season this upcoming week with a game at Muhlenberg on Wednesday and then at home on Saturday against Haverford.
