Clermont, FL – The Wittenberg Tiger softball team got back on the winning track with an 8-5 win over Haverford College under the lights on Friday night.

The Tigers started the scoring rally early, posting two runs in the first inning. After Elise Freeland drew the leadoff walk, Wittenberg took advantage of the Haverford miscue with the ball getting tossed into right field off the Julia Burch sacrifice bunt. The Tigers added to their lead in the bottom of the second with a double to center by Alexis Christy, bringing around Briana Busic to go up 3-0. After a Haverford rally came together in the third and fifth innings, Wittenberg tied the game at 4-4 with heads up base running on the passed ball. The Tigers kept the offense alive in the fifth inning, as Hanna Ecker knocked a single into right center to bring home Burch for the fifth Wittenberg run. Clara Andersen capped off the rally with a two-RBI single, scoring Harper Crews and Diana Quevedo, extending the Tiger lead to 7-4. Wittenberg would hold an 8-4 advantage after six innings, taking advantage of a Haverford wild pitch as Samantha Casteel would come home to score.

Samantha Zungri and Kira van Ravensberg would put work in inside the circle for the Tigers. Zungri got the start for the Tigers, hurling 4.2 innings and striking out one with six hits allowed. Van Ravensberg came in for the final 2.1 innings of action against the Fords, allowing just two hits and one run.
