HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's soccer team (6-7-2) was edged by Kean (6-6-2) in non-conference action, falling by a 2-0 final Tuesday afternoon at Walton Field. In a game played mainly in the middle of the field, the Cougars put away the Fords with two goals.

Haverford dominated the possession battle in the first half. The first shot of the game came from Alyssa Saito in the fifth minute. Her shot, although contested, forced the Kean goalkeeper into an early save.

Gabrielle Cipriano notched shot of her own, yet again getting an attempt on the net, but it would be saved by Marissa Cook. The best attempt for Haverford came from Grace Haskell in the 33rd minute as she fired a header from inside the box. Haskell had a clean look at the net, but the goalkeeper for the Cougars was aware enough to get her hands on the ball, stopping the Fords from taking the lead.

Against the run of play, Kean forward Gracie Casais put her team ahead with a shot to the far post in the 36th minute. Although Haverford edged Kean on shot attempts 4-2 in the first half, Kean showed the ability to finish the one strong chance they had.

The second half was a defensive battle for both teams. Neither team could get anything going in the attacking third in the early goings. The first shot of the second half didn't come until the 71st minute. Haskell looked to have a good attempt, but the Kean defender slid in late to block her shot and eliminate the threat.

The Cougars doubled their lead in the 72nd minute as Casais scored her second goal of the contest with the assist again going to Sophie Lang.

The Fords kept pressing on, but Kean held on for the 2-0 win at the final whistle. Overall, Haverford outshot their opponent 8-4 and led the way with three corner kicks to none for the visitors. Cook picked up her first win of the season in goal for the visitors, making three saves in 45 minutes of action.

Women's soccer will look to rebound in their upcoming away matchup with Gettysburg on Saturday, October 23 as the Fords return to Centennial Conference play. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
