Garnet Put Up Furious Fourth Frame In Loss To F&M

LANCASTER, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Basketball recorded its highest scoring quarter of the season on Saturday afternoon when the team dropped 26 points in the fourth quarter on the road at Franklin & Marshall College.

Kendall Tribus scored 11 of her team-leading 17 points in the fourth frame to help bring Swarthmore within striking distance of the hosting Diplomats. The Garnet had trailed by as many as 18 points in the second half, but closed the gap to five points with 1:08 to, making it just a two-possession game. However, the Garnet ran out of time to complete the comeback attempt and fell by a final score of 70-63.

Tribus went 6-for-11 from the floor (54.5 percent) and 4-for-7 (57.1 percent) from 3-point range while stuffing the stat sheet with six rebounds, three assists, three blocks and a steal.

Elizabeth Stiles posted her ninth game of the year with at least 10 points, finishing the afternoon with 16 points on a superb 6-for-8 day from the floor.
Abigail Pirron pitched in 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting and dealt out five assists.

Freshman Erin Cronin led the Garnet on the glass, corralling 10 rebounds.

For the Diplomats, Krisitin Hamill had a game high 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds.

Swarthmore was slow to get out of the gate in the first quarter, falling behind 18-9. The Garnet still trailed by halftime, but things really started going their way in the second half. Swarthmore outscored the hosts 42-35 in the second half.

The Garnet performed better from the floor than the Diplomats, cashing in on 42.3 percent of their field goal attempts while the Diplomats shot 39.1 percent from the floor. F&M's advantage in the contest came in the rebounding column, 41-30. F&M grabbed 17 offensive rebounds to help extend possessions and get more looks at the basket.

Swarthmore returns home on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. game with Washington College.
