SWARTHMORE, Pa.—No. 32 Swarthmore College Men's Tennis rolled to a pair of wins in a split-squad day, shutting out Cabrini University at home and blanking Gettysburg College on the road.
The pair of 9-0 wins stopped an eight-match losing streak and brought Swarthmore's record up to 7-9 on the year and 3-0 in Centennial Conference play.
Swarthmore 9, Cabrini 0
Swarthmore only dropped two games in doubles as
Thibault Vernier and
John Lathrop won 8-2 in top doubles.
Jiung Jung and
Noah Criss swept second doubles while
Evan Han and
Neel Gupta bageled Cabrini in third doubles.
Jung, Lathrop, Criss and Han all won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0. Vernier claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win at second singles and Gupta won sixth singles 6-4, 6-3.
Swarthmore 9, Gettysburg 0
Gettysburg played Swarthmore a little tighter, but the Garnet still won this match without dropping a set.
Noah Cheng and
Kevin Xu led off top doubles with an 8-3 win while
Weiyi Zhu and
Max Gruber won 8-6 in the second flight.
William Teoh and
Devan Geib won third doubles 8-4.
In singles play, Cheng won in the top flight as well, 6-3, 6-0. Zhu claimed second singles 6-4, 6-2, and Xu went 6-1, 6-0 in third singles.
In fourth singles, Teoh won 6-3, 6-2. Gruber earned another win at fifth singles 6-3, 6-1. Geib capped off the Garnet win with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at sixth singles.
Swarthmore plays at Dickinson College on Saturday.
