BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Haverford College field hockey team (8-1, 1-1 CC) had its eight game winning streak snapped on Wednesday afternoon at Bi-Co partner Bryn Mawr (6-2, 1-1 CC), as the Owls defended home turf at Applebee Field with a narrow 1-0 victory.

Hannah Roth made seven saves for Haverford and the Fords added a pair of defensive saves in the contest. Bryn Mawr began the game on the offensive, with Haverford forced to fend off a pair of early strong scoring attempts from the Owls.

Roth was more than up to the task, rattling off a pair of early saves in the first 90 seconds of action. Delaney Snowden was called into action on a defensive save in the fourth minute, swatting down a shot attempt from Ryann McManus while Caroline Channell also redirected an attempt off the backline as the Owls swarmed the attacking third on a pair of penalty corners. Roth also turned away a salvo in the seventh minute, and from that point, Haverford was able to get into a rhythm, slowing down the tempo and getting into the attacking third with a sustained offensive chance in the 10th minute a Amy Kim sent in the first Haverford shot for the contest.

The hosts earned a penalty corner in the first moments of the second quarter, notching a goal from Hazel Miller as the Owls penalty corner offense saw Courtney Cutone send in a one-time centering pass that Miller converted past Roth for the opening strike.  The Fords chased the equalizer from that point, with Snowden and Ravenel Davis each getting solid looks on target off a penalty corner. Bryn Mawr earned 10 total corners in the contest to six for Haverford, but Haverford certainly had strong looks on cage off penalty corner attempts. A 26th minute shot from Snowden sailed just wide as Bryn Mawr held the one-goal advantage going into halftime.

After the intermission, it was again the Owls with the early momentum, earning three penalty corners while holding Haverford without a shot in the third quarter. Davis took command in the fourth, firing four shots before a last-ditch penalty corner attempt went fruitless as the Owls regained possession following a foul, closing out the final seconds of clock to earn victory.

Maggie Titus made five saves to pick up the win for the hosts. The Fords outshot Bryn Mawr by a 5-3 margin in the second half as the fourth quarter flurry came up just short.

Haverford will next return to action with a home contest against No. 2 Johns Hopkins on Saturday (1 p.m.). The Fords will honor its seniors from the Class of 2021 at halftime of the game with the Blue Jays.
