No. 20 Men's Soccer Falls to No. 25 Johns Hopkins in NCAAs

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The 2021 season came to an end for No. 20 Penn State Harrisburg men's soccer with a 2-1 loss to No. 25 Johns Hopkins in NCAA Tournament First-Round action at John Carroll University on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 13.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (15-2-1) struck first on Saturday but was unable to hold the lead in the NCAA Tournament outing, as Johns Hopkins (12-4-2) responded with the equalizer in the early going before netting the game-winner in the final minutes to advance to the national tournament's second round on Sunday afternoon.

Daniel Fombu's memorable postseason continued, as the freshman put the Lions out in front less than six minutes into the game with a strike in the fifth minute.

The Blue & White were unable to hold the lead for long, however, as JHU's Nate Charendoff connected on the equalizer little more than 10 minutes later off an assist from Axel Whamond.

The score remained even at 1-1 for the next 70 minutes, with each team's defense and goalkeeping proving up to the challenge. Then in the 85th minute, the Blue Jays got the break they needed when Liam Creedon gathered a Penn State Harrisburg clear attempt and netted the game-winner in impressive fashion from nearly 30 yards out.
