HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's soccer team (2-6-2, 0-3 CC) was defeated by visiting Washington College (2-3-3, 1-1-1) Wednesday afternoon in Centennial Conference action at Walton Field.  The Shoremen scored the game-winner on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute and later added an insurance goal in the 38th minute to reflect the 2-0 final score.

Haverford was tested early as Washington went on the attack chasing a goal in the early goings. Ben Strine and Harrison Malone put shots on frame in the first 14 minutes, but Dylan Ioffreda made some key saves to keep the Shoremen off the board. Ioffreda was called into duty for two more saves in the first 25 minutes.

In the 32nd minute, a penalty was awarded to the visitors after a foul in the box. Strine took the opportunity, converting for his third goal of the season. Cyrus Nasseri had the Fords' first shot of the contest in the 34th minute, but Malone added a goal in the 38th with Ben Horgan slotting a crisp pass across the 18 where Malone was able to beat the keeper towards the far post for his third goal of the season.

The two goals proved to be enough for Washington, as Haverford struggled to find its offensive rhythm. Paul-Andre Coulibaly and Meinhardt Rentrup had some solid scoring chances, but a strong performance from the Shoremen defense kept Haverford in check. Andrew Fritz came off the bench to help spark some attacking chances down the stretch, firing high in the 73rd and seeing his header sail just wide in the 81st minute.

In total, Washington College held a 12-6 advantage in shots and earned four corner kicks while holding the Fords without a corner attempt. Dylan Ioffreda made six saves in his 90 minutes between the pipes. Anthony Pinto picked up his first win of the season for the visitors, with one save.

Men's Soccer now continues Centennial Conference play on Saturday, taking to Allentown for a matchup with Muhlenberg at 4 p.m.
