Box Score 2 PASADENA, Calif.—No. 31 Swarthmore College Men's Tennis split its matches to start spring break on Monday.
The Garnet beat Hardin-Simmons University 9-0 but then fell to Cal Tech 6-3.
Swarthmore 9, Hardin-Simmons 0
The Garnet swept Hardin-Simmons to open their spring break trip. Swarthmore won each doubles match 8-3.
In singles play, Noah Criss led with a 6-4, 6-1 win in first singles. Noah Cheng took second singles 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 in the super tiebreaker.
Weiyi Zhu took third singles 6-4, 6-2, and Kevin Zhu won fourth singles 6-2, 6-0.
Minki Kim had a tight first set but won 7-5 and then took the second set of fifth singles 6-1.
William Teoh won the sixth match 5-7, 6-3, 11-9.
Swarthmore 3, Cal Tech 6
In Swarthmore's second match of the day, the Garnet got a win in second doubles as Evan Han and John Lathrop won 8-4.
In singles action, John Lathrop collected a win in third singles 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Criss earned a win in sixth singles 3-6, 6-3, 10-4.
Swarthmore plays Hope International and University of Redlands on Wednesday.
