GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) registered her first double-double of the season and eight other Bullets scored for the team as the 20th-ranked Gettysburg College women's basketball team remains unbeaten in Centennial Conference action as they topped Johns Hopkins University 67-60 inside Bream Gym Thursday night.
 
The Bullets (5-1, 3-0 CC) have won the last five meetings against the Blue Jays (5-1, 2-1 CC).
 
Dorshimer finished the night with 19 points, hitting 5-of-9 from the field and 9-of-12 from the free throw line, grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds, and a team-best three steals. Dorshimer is just two three-pointers shy of Gettysburg's career mark of 186 held by Dana Bear '04.
 
Junior Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) notched 13 points and four boards. Sophomore Meredith Brown (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) added eight rebounds with junior Kiera Cesareo (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) leading the reserves with nine points, going a spotless 2-of-2 from 3-point range.
 
Lexie Scholtz scored 18 points and seven boards to lead the Blue Jays while Maggie Spitzer collected nine rebounds for a team-high.
 
The Bullets and Blue Jays went back-and-forth throughout the first quarter, totaling three lead changes. Freshman Tori Yantsos (Rockville, Md./Holy Child) netted a jumper to give Gettysburg a two-point lead (11-9) with 2:31 on the clock. However, a free throw by Diarra Oden and a layup by Rory Cole in the last 1:26 put Johns Hopkins ahead 12-11 at the end of the frame.
 
Gettysburg started the second quarter with a 7-0 run with Dorshimer contributing five of the seven points to take the lead, 18-12. The Blue Jays answered back by coming within one (18-17) after making a layup and a 3-pointer with 5:11 remaining. The final 4:20 resulted in a scoring battle, but the Bullets managed to outscore the Blue Jays 9-7 to head into intermission with the 30-28 lead. The Bullets shot 50 percent from the field and held the Blue Jays to 28.6 percent in the frame.
 
Gettysburg and Johns Hopkins continued to play aggressive in the third quarter as there were six ties and seven lead changes. Both teams had five different players score in the frame with the Blue Jays taking the one-point advantage (42-41). Cesareo sunk a pair of free throws with 1:15 left, but a layup by Maggie Spitzer shortly afterwards put the Blue Jays in front.
 
Four more ties occurred in the first four minutes of the fourth quarter. A free throw by freshman Christina Richson (Summit, N.J./Summit) with 4:39 remaining in the game started the wave of offensive flow for the Bullets as they went on a 17-6 run to lead by 11 (66-55). The Blue Jays made a 3-pointer with three seconds left, but the Bullets sealed the victory.
 
Gettysburg finished 20-of-48 (41.7 percent) from the field and held the Blue Jays to 28.8 percent from the floor. Gettysburg established a new team-high in rebounds with 49.
 
Gettysburg travels to Haverford College on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game.
