Meet Highlights
- Mary Washington swept both relay races, including a razor-thin victory in the 400 medley to start the meet. The Bullets grabbed the early lead on a 1:02.07 backstroke time by sophomore Natalie Wisniewski (Summit, N.J./Summit), but Kinsey Brooks helped the Eagles jump in front with a strong breaststroke split. Senior Cate Kosko (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury East) did her best to chase down Mary Washington's anchor, but the Gettysburg swimmer ran out of real estate and touched the wall just 0.08 seconds behind with an overall time of 4:03.74.
- Wisniewski turned in Gettysburg's first win by edging out teammate Lindsay Blake (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) in the 100 back. Wisniewski finished at 1:01.25, while Blake posted 1:01.40.
- Freshman Mia Yancey (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) picked up two wins on the afternoon. Yancey sped her way to victory ahead of two Eagles in the 50 free at 25.45 and she came right back after a short break in the meet to claim a victory over Kosko in the 100 free. Yancey touched the wall first at 55.04 with Kosko sliding in behind at 55.58.
- Senior Megan Wojnar (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) cruised to a win in the 200 back. The school record holder in the event, Wojnar led from the start and beat out Kaylie Curran from Mary Washington with a time of 2:11.77. Blake finished third in the race at 2:15.32. Wojnar was also Gettysburg's top performer in the 200 free with a time of 2:02.93, which was good enough for third.
- Freshman Olivia Pyott (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) and juniors Annabel Gorman (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and Lauren Manning (West Hartford, Conn./Conard) all had to settle for a pair of second-place showings. Pyott finished runner-up in both breaststroke races to Brooks, who has already posted NCAA qualifying times this season. Pyott went 1:08.43 in the 100 and 2:28.42 in the 200. Brooks also won the 200 IM ahead of sophomore Morgan Krepp (Dallas, Texas/Ursuline Academy) who posted a time of 2:17.41.
- Bridget Wilson managed to out-duel Gorman in the butterfly events. Gorman had the lead through three-quarters of the 200 fly, but Wilson stormed past with a 34.39 split over the final 50 yards. Gorman finished in 2:17.09. Wilson narrowly beat out the Bullet junior by just over half a second in the 100 fly with Gorman finishing in 1:01.28. Manning posted runner-up finishes in the 1,000 free (11:12.53) and 500 free (5:29.00).
