Men’s Track Opens at F&M

Will Hopkins ’22 places third in 3,000-meter run

LANCASTER, Pa. –
A couple of program top-10 marks fell on the opening day of the indoor track and field season for the Gettysburg College men's team at the Franklin & Marshall College Diplomat Open on Saturday.

    • Pole Vault: 2nd (13'5.75" – eighth in program history)
  • Will Hopkins '22 (Raleigh, N.C./Needham B. Broughton)
    • 3,000-Meter Run: 3rd (9:21.51)
  • Corey Palazzolo '22 (Colts Neck, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy)
    • High Jump: 3rd (6'0.75" – seventh in program history)
    • Triple Jump: 4th (41'3.75)
  • Eric Liedtka '23 (Hamilton, N.J./Notre Dame)
    • 60-Meter Hurdles: 6th (9.01 – fifth in program history)
  • Jack Kenyon '21 (Centerpoint, N.Y./Harborfields)
    • 1,000-Meter Run: 5th (2:44.37 – fourth in program history)
Meet Highlights
  • Zemser made the most of his first collegiate meet as he finished runner-up in the pole vault (13'5.75") among 14 competitors. His mark now ranks eighth all-time in program history.
  • In his first 3,000-meter run, Hopkins placed third out of 12 competitors, clocking 9:21.51.
  • Palazzolo finished third in the high jump (6'0.75"), tying his mark to rank seventh all-time, and registered fourth in the triple jump, leaping 41'3.75".
  • The 4x400-meter relay team of senior Matt Weller (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill), sophomore Andrew Deck (York, Pa./Hempfield), Liedtka, and senior Gus Brouillard (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) claimed fourth with a 3:41.87 time.
  • Kenyon, who will be graduating in December, competed in the 1,000-meter run and clocked 2:44.37 to take fifth place. His mark now ranks fourth in program history.
  • In the 60-meter hurdles, Liedtka improved his previous personal-record time of 9.13 to 9.01 to claim sixth place, which keeps him ranked fifth in program history.
  • Out of 12 runners in the 3,000-meters, freshman Greg Himstreet (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) came in sixth with a 9:47.83 time.
