RESULTS
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – In the final event of the meet, the quartet of
William Cano,
Stephen Lyons,
Dylan Schreffler, and
Ryan Carkhuff earned a first-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay to lift the Ursinus College men's swimming team over Gettysburg 135.5-126.5.
With the win, Ursinus improves to 4-2 on the season and 2-2 in Centennial Conference action.
Sophomore
Jonah Kasznay had a career day winning three individual events and leading off for the Bears first place 200 medley relay team. Kasznay,
Francesco D'Avella, Lyons, and Carkhuff just narrowly defeated the Bullets in the opening event as they finished with a time of 1:36.68. Kasznay earned the top times in the 1000 free (10:03.28), 500 free (4:49.75), and 200 IM (1:58.00).
Senior
Maxwell Valeriano earned third place finishes in the 1000 free (10:34.82) and 200 IM (2:03.86), while classmate
Ryan Carkhuff earned the top times in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle. The Bears swept the top three times in 50 and 100-yard freestyle, as Lyons earned a second-place finish in the 50 free (21.97) and a third-place time in the 100 free (48.66).
First-years
David McCauley,
William Cano, and D'Avella all impressed throughout the meet as the trio combined for six top-three finishes. McCauley earned the second fastest times in the 200 free (1:47.68) and 500 free (4:51.94), while Cano collected third in the 50 free (22.28) and 100 fly (53.74. D'Avella earned the best time in the 100-breast touching the wall at 1:00.04 and picked up a third-place finish in the 200 breast (2:15.82).
The Bears will have a few weeks off and return to action on December 2
nd for the Gettysburg Invitational.
