Women's Soccer's Historic Season Ends In NCAA Tournament

WESTMINSTER, Md. - An historic 2021 campaign came to an end for Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team with a 2-0 loss to No. 7 McDaniel in an NCAA Tournament First-Round contest on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 13.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The No. 7 Green Terror (18-1-1) used a pair of first-half goals to hold off Penn State Harrisburg (12-5-4) in a 2-0 victory in NCAA Tournament action at McDaniel's Green Terror Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Goalkeeper Delaney Shifflett was under duress in the early going and did her best to keep the Lions in it by making four saves but the home team broke through when Hannah Schepers found the back of the net in the 22nd minute.

McDaniel doubles its advantage less than five minutes later when Maddie Schwartz converted an attempt off an assist from Allison Storm with 17:39 remaining before halftime.

After failing to get off a shot in the opening half, the Blue & White adjusted in the second and got off three attempts on frame in the final 40 minutes. Each time, however, McDaniel goalkeeper Katherine Carstensen turned away the shot to keep the lead at 2-0.
