Bullets Remain Perfect at Messiah

Gettysburg downs Falcons 138-47

GRANTHAM, Pa. –
Gettysburg College (6-0) remained unbeaten by winning eight races on the way to a 138-47 victory over Messiah College in a non-conference women's swimming meet Friday evening.

Meet Highlights
  • The Bullets seized the 200 medley relay as senior Becca Maroney (Darien, Conn./Darien), Cooper, and freshmen Hannah Wasson (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) and Sarah Fravel (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) sped to a three-second victory at 1:53.47.
  • Messiah swimmers won the 200 free and 200 IM, but Gettysburg went 2-3-4 in those events. Each of those Falcon wins were by less than half a second.
  • Gettysburg featured the top four swimmers in the 50 free with Crilly claiming the win by over a second at 24.75. The senior closed the meet by anchoring the 200 free relay team to an over four-second win at 1:41.24.
  • Clancy turned in her seventh individual victory of the season by touching the wall first in the 100 fly at 1:00.89. She finished runner-up in the 100 breast as Moss broke away in the final 50 yards and won with a time of 1:09.79.
  • Bobeck was the top Bullet in the 200 free with a second-place finish (2:01.36) and she led a 1-2-3 finish by Gettysburg in the 100 free with a time of 55.98.
  • Cooper was right behind Bobeck in the 100 free and she keyed both relay efforts as the second swimmer in the water. The sophomore turned in the best breaststroke split (31.31) in the 200 medley relay and her 25.19 split in the 200 free relay was second only to Crilly's anchor leg among 20 swimmers.
  • Wasson won the 100 back for the fourth time this season, out-pacing Maroney by nearly three seconds at 1:00.97.
 
Where the Series Stands Now
Gettysburg improved to 12-0 against Messiah. The 91-point margin was the Bullets' biggest win over the Falcons since a 93-point victory (163-70) in 2013-14.
 
Next Up
Gettysburg caps the opening semester with its own two-day invitational in the Bullets Pool on Dec. 6-7. The opening day's events kick off at 6 p.m.
