ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Freshman
Katherine Mangione (Doylestown, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) placed fifth in the javelin to lead the Gettysburg College women's track and field team on the third and final day of the Centennial Conference (CC) Outdoor Championship on Sunday at Muhlenberg College.
Gettysburg placed ninth out of 10 teams, accumulating a score of 27.5. Johns Hopkins University claimed the title with a whopping 278 points. Swarthmore College took second (171) and Dickinson College was third (115.5).
Mangione registered fifth in the javelin with a throw of 113-06 out of 21 competitors.
In the 800-meter run, the Bullets had freshman
Georgia Larzelere (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) and senior
Paige Wesolowski (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket Regional) compete in the finals on Sunday. Larzelere tallied seventh and Wesolowski took eighth with times of 2:21.07 and 2:34.79, respectively.
Seniors
Colleen Campbell (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy),
Danielle DeMichael (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East),
Katie Bell (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton), and Wesolowski finished eighth in the 4x400-meter relay, clocking a time of 4:22.29.
Freshman
Nicole Mangaroo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Polytech Prep Country Day) just missed placing in the top-eight in the shot put, taking ninth with a personal record (PR) toss of 35-00.25.
A handful of athletes will return to action for Gettysburg on Monday, May 13 at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet.
