BALTIMORE - The Haverford College Men's Tennis team returned to action at Sunday's Goucher Invitational, accumulating a 4-2 singles record and a perfect 3-0 mark in doubles against competition from Gettysburg, Marymount, Goucher, and Harford Community College in Baltimore.

George Jiang, Danny Loder, and Abhinav Nallapareddy each grabbed straight-set victories to set the tone for Haverford in singles, while newcomer James McKenzie earned his first career triumph in a solid collegiate debut, splitting the first two sets with his opponent from HCC before winning the third-set tiebreaker in relatively straightforward fashion.

Conference foe Gettysburg proved to be a thorn in the Haverford side, as Mikey Fellman and Michael Zayneh of the Bullets each outlasted Jackson Trevor and Patrick Kley, respectively. The Fords excelled in doubles, with the tandem of Jiang and Loder outlasting a pairing from Harford, while Trevor and Nallapareddy earned a victory over Marymount, prevailing in the tiebreaker. McKenzie and Kley also teamed up to hand Haverford its third doubles victory of the morning.

With the first tournament of the fall season behind them, the Fords next return to the courts for the 2021 ITA Southeast Regional at University of Mary Washington. Action in Northern Virginia will run from Friday, October 1 to Sunday, October 3.
