Running at the "fastest track in the world," the Armory in New York City, the Muhlenberg track and field team put up some fast times at the NYC DIII Invitational.
The men's team placed two runners in the top eight in both the 800 and the mile. In the 800, senior
Corey Mullins finished fifth in 1:56.83, improving his personal best by 0.71 seconds and remaining at No. 7 on the all-time performance list. Freshman
Sam Morgan entered the list just behind him, coming in eighth in 1:57.16, Both runners qualified for the Atlantic Regional.
The Mules nearly had three all-time top 10 performances in the same race: Sophomore
Luke Ullmann, ran 1:58.55, just missing 10th place (1:58.46).
In the mile, junior
Jason Richwall and senior
Jacob Saxon finished 5-6. Saxon
(pictured above left) cut almost eight seconds off the personal best he set last week, hitting the performance list in 10th place.
Ullmann, Morgan and Mullins were part of a 4x400Â team (along with sophomore
Gregory Shanahan) that won its heat, coming from behind to defeat a Johns Hopkins team.
Junior
Kem Montina jumped from 10th to fifth on the performance list, cutting his 60-meter hurdle time from 9.57 to 9.21.
The men also did well in the vertical jumps. Freshman
Ben Arehart placed eighth in the high jump in his Muhlenberg debut, while sophomore
Zach Lill tied for third (second among collegiate athletes) in the pole vault.
For the women, freshman
Kayleigh Durning set a personal best in the hurdles (10.24), and sophomore
Alana Noehrenberg set an indoor personal best in the high jump (4-11)..
Junior
Victoria Cabellos (pictured above right) won her heat of the 800 with a late kick. Her ECAC-qualifying time of 2:25.61 chopped more than three seconds off the indoor personal best she set last week.
Freshman
Abby Dalton posted an ECAC- and Atlantic Regional-qualifying time of 5:19.51 in the mile.
