HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior Sarah Rinehart (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) placed 26th to lead the Gettysburg College women's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the Centennial Conference (CC) Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Haverford College.
Two of the five teams that placed in front of the Bullets were nationally-ranked, including Johns Hopkins University, the top-ranked team in Division III which captured its 11th-straight Centennial Conference title. Led by race winner Ellie Clawson, the Blue Jays placed the top-seven runners for a perfect score of 15.
No. 6 Dickson College took second with 58 points while Haverford College took third with a score of 100. Swarthmore College came in fourth with 100 points as well and was followed by Muhlenberg College (140), Gettysburg (181), Franklin & Marshall College (204), Ursinus College (233), Bryn Mawr College (252), and McDaniel College (307).
Rinehart paced the Bullets by placing 26th, covering the 6,000-meter muddy, wet, and rainy course in 23:35.
Freshmen Kathrin O'Brien (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School) and Amy Milner (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) were the next Bullets to finish, placing 49th and 50th, respectively, in the field of 111. O'Brien was timed at a personal-record (PR) of 24:46 while Milner was just behind her at 24:47.
Rounding out the team scoring was senior Colleen Campbell (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy) and freshman Ashlyn Booher (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs), who placed 54th and 55th, respectively, with times of 24:53 and 25:00.
Finishing as displacers were seniors Danielle DeMichael (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks) and Margot Hoagland (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North). DeMichael came in 61st with a PR of 25:15 while Hoagland took 67th in 25:38.
The Bullets take a week off before running at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional on Saturday, Nov. 10 at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa.
