BETHLEHEM, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Cross Country took eighth place overall out of 51 teams at the NCAA Regional Championship on Saturday on the campus of Lehigh University. The Garnet registered a team score of 302 at the championship 8K and had an average time of 26:16.
Freshman Aidan Cantine led the Garnet and earned All-Region recognition by finishing in the top-35 out of 360 participants. Cantine ran the 8K in 25:49.6 and was 1:25.2 off of the first-place finisher. He averaged a 5:11.8/mile pace en route to his first race this season as Swarthmore's top finisher. Cantine had had the third best Swarthmore time at the Centennial Championship two weeks ago.
Senior Vaughn Parts took home 47th place as they ran the course in 26:03.9, averaging a 5:14.7/mile pace.
Sophomore Brendan Penfold finished in 71st overall, reaching the finish line in 26:25.9. Classmate Ethan Rothenberg was not too far behind. The sophomore finished in 73rd with a time of 26:29.1. Senior Frank Kenny provided Swarthmore its fifth score, clocking in at 26:31.5.
Freshman Casey White finished in sixth for Swarthmore with a time of 26:58.1, and senior Lucas Heinzerling ran the 8K in 27:16.5 for Swarthmore's seventh time.
