• Records: JHU (15-2, 10-0 CC) • FMC (15-2, 9-1 CC)
• Location: Baltimore, MD • Homewood Field
• The Short Story: There was a lot riding on the top-10 match-up between the eight-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team and sixth-ranked Franklin & Marshall Saturday afternoon at Homewood Field. The Blue Jays grabbed a 2-0 lead and went on to beat the Diplomats, 2-1, to win the Centennial Conference regular season title and the top seed in next week's conference tournament.

How it Happened
• Hopkins got on the board with 6:40 to play in the second quarter to the take the early lead. A give-and-go between sophomore Abby Birk and junior Michaela Corvi, ended with Birk blasting a shot into the middle of the cage from 10 yards out.
• The Blue Jays doubled their lead with 2:27 to play in the third quarter. Senior Christina Glaser fired a shot from the middle of the circle that looked like it was going to just miss wide, but Birk lunged at the ball and tipped the ball between Dips' goalie Christina Seery and the right post to make it 2-0.
• Franklin & Marshall ended the shutout bid with just 5:03 to play as the Dips cashed in on a penalty corner. Melissa Gula took a hard shot from the top left of the circle and Abby Straub redirected the ball into the top of the cage. The Blue Jay defense would make the one-goal lead stand.
