Women's Basketball Runs Past McDaniel, 61-38

Three Blue Jays Scored in Double-Figures in the Game

The Basics

• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team opened Centennial Conference play with a commanding 61-38 victory over McDaniel on Tuesday night at Goldfarb Gym.

How it Happened
• JHU outscored McDaniel 15-4 in the opening 10 minutes and the Blue Jays continued to control the pace of the game as they opened the second quarter on a 12-6 run which was capped by a three-pointer from Maggie Wodicka to make the score 27-10.
Rory Cole gave Johns Hopkins a 20 point advantage in the second as she took a pass from Wodicka and laid it in to make the score 32-12 with 1:52 remaining in the half.
• The Green Terror went on a 6-0 run to end the half and cut the Blue Jay lead to 32-18 heading into the halftime break.
• Cole scored the first four points of the third quarter to make the score 36-18 but a layup from Jamese Word stopped Cole's run and made the score 36-20 with 5:44 remaining in the quarter.
• A 6-0 run capped by a Lillian Scott jumper gave Hopkins a 22-point advantage as her shot made the score 42-20. McDaniel responded with a 7-0 to end the quarter and make the score 42-27.
• Johns Hopkins ran away with the game in the final quarter as a jumper by Diarra Oden made the score 54-31 and gave JHU its largest lead of the game with 5:05 remaining as the Blue Jays went on to the 61-38 victory.

What it Means
• JHU is now 41-42 all-time against the Green Terror as the Blue Jays have won the last five meetings.

Inside the Box Score
• Cole finished the day with 10 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
• Scott led all scorers with 17 points while Madison McGrath finished with 11.
Lexie Scholtz grabbed 10 rebounds in the game as the Blue Jays outrebounded the Green Terror 51-39.

• Hopkins takes the court next on Tuesday, November 27 as the Blue Jays will head to Swarthmore to take on the Garnet in a 7 pm contest.
