GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Haverford College men's soccer team was edged 3-1 at Gettysburg's Clark Field on Saturday afternoon. The Fords (7-8-1, 4-4 CC) never recovered after going down three goals. Gettysburg (10-3-2, 5-2-1 CC) scored early and never looked back to claim the home victory.

Dylan Ioffreda was put to work early and often for the Fords. Ioffreda registered four saves in the opening half-hour of action. It was clear that Ioffreda was needed if Haverford was going to walk away with a win as Gettysburg kept the pressure on and would eventually be rewarded for their efforts.

The Bullets struck first when Connor Fife found the back of the net in the 37th minute. Aidan Giaquinto assisted on that opening goal. Haverford only managed to get one shot in the first half, with Tomas Ascoli rocketing an attempt into the box.

Gettysburg took a two-goal advantage after a Haverford own-goal in the 57th minute and The Bullets scored again in the 69th minute with a well-placed goal from Matt Midura. The pass came from Aidan Giquinto for his second assist of the day.

However, Haverford continued to fight. A minute later, Liam O'Malley found Paul-Andre Coulibaly, who slotted a shot home to pull a goal back for the Fords. It was his sixth goal of the season. Unfortunately, the one goal was all Haverford could manage in the final moments as a tough match-up with playoff implications went the way of the Bullets.

Ioffreda finished the game with five saves, and Coulibaly led the way with four shots.

On Saturday, the Fords will return to action for Senior Day and the season finale at Walton Field,  a 3 p.m. kickoff against Tri-Co rival Swarthmore.
