SWARTHMORE, Pa.—With the weather clearing up on Saturday afternoon, No. 31 Swarthmore College Men's Tennis played its match with Franklin & Marshall College out on Faulkner Courts. The Garnet took care of business, winning 8-1 and improving to 10-11 on the year and 6-1 in Centennial Conference play.
Swarthmore is now 5-2 in home matches.
The Garnet nearly swept the entire match but Thibault Vernier was edged in the third set superbreaker 10-8. Thibault Vernier won his doubles match with John Lathrop in the top flight 8-4. Jiung Jung and Noah Criss claimed second doubles 8-5. Simon Vernier and Evan Han held off the Diplomats in third doubles 8-3.
Jung cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win in the top flight of singles. Lathrop earned his second win of the day in the second slot 6-1, 6-4. Simon Vernier took fourth singles 6-4, 6-3. Criss' second win on Saturday came in fifth singles 6-2, 6-1. Han captured sixth singles 7-6, 6-0.
Swarthmore looks to get back to .500 on the year with a match against Haverford on Wednesday.
