Junior
Courtney Allen scored with 2:59 remaining in regulation to give the Muhlenberg field hockey team a 3-2 home win against Moravian.
The teams traded goals twice in the first half to set the stage for the dramatic ending. Just 4:15 into the game, senior
Stephi Rydgren collected a rebound to the right of the goal and centered a pass for sophomore
Jordyn Kamis, who finished for her second goal of the season.
The Greyhounds (4-10) answered less than five minutes later and took a 2-1 lead with 21:16 left in the half.
A little more than two minutes after Moravian's second goal, the Mules (6-7) tied the game back up when freshman
Sarah Raab blasted in a shot from the top of the circle for her third goal in the last four games.
The scoring pace slowed considerably after that, and the game remained 2-2 until the waning moments. The winning goal came at the end of a flurry of shots. One by sophomore
Rachel Richards was saved by the goalie, and a bid by freshman
Laura Horner for her first career goal was saved by a Greyhound back. Finally, Allen
(pictured above) put the ball in for her fifth career goal.
Muhlenberg extended its consecutive game scoring streak to 19, the second-longest in program history, and defeated Moravian for the fifth straight year. All but three of the Mules' 13 games have been decided by one goal.
Rydgren's two assists gave her double figures in both goals (17) and assists (10) for her career.
