Volleyball Rolls to Sweep Against Albright

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College volleyball team (6-11, 0-3) swept Albright, 3-0, on Thursday evening. The Bears came out firing right out of the gates and carried that throughout the match to get their sixth win of the season.

The Bears fell behind early, but back-to-back kills from Rachael Girard to spark a 6-0 run put the team ahead 11-8 and they never looked back. Leading 13-11, the Bears offense fired four kills to take a commanding 17-12 advantage. Katie Cressman sealed the set with her fifth kill to give Ursinus the early 1-0 lead.

Like the opening set, the Bears found themselves down 12-10 midway through the second. Luca Walborn went on to serve three straight aces from the backline to cap off what was a 7-0 run to take the lead. The Bears went on to win the set's final eight points to take the second, 25-14.

The Bears took that momentum into the third set, taking an early 10-5 lead. Up 13-8, kills by Isabelle Deal as well as another pair of aces from Walborn put the Bears in control, 18-8. The Lions managed to pull back within five at 22-17, but a kill from Deal closed out the third set 25-20 and the match.

Piotrowicz and Girard led the way with seven kills each. Piotrowicz added 17 digs to bring her season total to 262. She needs 88 more to reach 1,000.
