GETTYSBURG, Pa. - No. 15 Swarthmore College Men's Swimming was victorious at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday.
The Garnet finished with 1008 points, followed by Gettysburg College (876), Ursinus College (478), Dickinson College (460), Susquehanna University (387), Elizabethtown College (162) and Messiah University (132).
On day one,
Ben Freeman won the 500 free. The sophomore touched the wall in a season best time of 4:37.49.
Tristan Haeger added a third place finish in the event with a mark of 4:39.57.
Horace Shew finished teh 200-IM in second place with a mark of 1:55.85, while
Jeremy Rockaway finished in third with a time of 1:56.14. Freeman, Shew, Rockaway and
Andrew Karpenko led the Garnet to victory in the 400-medley relay. The group finished the event with a time of 3:22.57, which is fourth on the all-time list.
In action on Day 2, Shew, Karpenko, Rockaway and
Ethan Marotte won the 200 medley relay. The group finished the event in 1:31.91, which is the fastest time by the Garnet this year.
Swarthmore went 1-2 in the 100-fly as Rockaway won the event, followed by Marotte. Rockaway finished with a time of 49.95, which is fourth all-time in Swarthmore history. Marotte touched the wall in 51.03 and ranks sixth all-time. Freeman came back to earn a victory with a time of 1:41.66 in the 200-free. Freeman,

AJ Das won the 800-free with a time of 6:50.20.
The Garnet return to the pool on January 15th ast hey host Rowan University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. The tri-meet is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Ware Pool.
