HAVERFORD, Pa. - Returning to the friendly confines of Walton Field, the Haverford College women's soccer team (3-1-1) etched a 3-0 win over visiting Eastern (1-3-1) on Wednesday afternoon. The Fords scored two first half goals and added an insurance goal late in the second half to cruise over the Eagles. Haverford dominated possession, with 17 shots to just two for the visitors as the midfield and back line kept most of the possession in the Haverford attacking third.

The scoring opened in the 16th minute as Celia Page found Alyssa Saito with a well-timed through ball to the doorstep of goal, allowing Saito to score her first goal of the year with a sliding attempt. The assist was Page's fourth of the young season while Saito now has five points on the 2021 campaign. Nora Gaby-Biegel added the second goal of the contest in the 32nd minute, sending in an off-angle screamer from just inside the 18 for her second goal of the season. The highlight reel tally helped put a bow on a strong first half for Haverford that saw the hosts fire 10 shots while the back line held Eastern to just one shot attempt in the first 45 minutes of action.

In the second half, Haverford peppered the Eastern goal in search of a third score, with Jaclyn Corbin and Celia Page putting strong attempts together ahead of a pair of shots on frame from Ashley Chun in the 78th minute.  In the 89th minute, an Eastern foul led to a scoring opportunity as Elle Ferreira converted on a free kick to expand the lead to 3-0 in the waning moments of action.

Page led all comers with four shots, putting two on frame. Brynn Rathsam and Kellie Reith tested Claire Cywes, who picked up her first career solo shutout with two saves after playing the second half in blankings of Eastern and Franklin & Marshall during her first year campaign in 2019.

Haverford improves to 8-3 all time against Eastern, including shutout victories in five of the last six matches between the two sides. The Fords will now begin Centennial Conference play on Saturday, making the trip to Carlisle, Pa. to do battle with No. 19 Dickinson.
