Messiah Decathlon Results
GRANTHAM, Pa. and LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore
Nicholas Grissinger (Palmyra, Pa./Milton Hershey) and freshman
Matthew Brown (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) registered the top finishes for the Gettysburg College men's track and field team at the Messiah Invitational on Saturday. The Bullets placed sixth out of 18 teams with 45.50 points.
Grissinger captured first in the 400-meter hurdles with a new personal record (PR) of 55.77. His previous PR was 55.85, which he set last season.
Senior
Thad Cwiklinski (Glen Rock, Pa./York Catholic) posted a fourth-place showing in the 400-meter dash, clocking a time of 51.36. In his first 10,000-meter run, freshman
Patrick Neighbour (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) took fourth with a time of 35:29.47.
In addition, freshman
Steven Heinbaugh (Fairfield, Pa./Fairfield) competed in Messiah's decathlon on Thursday and Friday. With his score of 4,946, he came in sixth among 11 competitors and now ranks eighth all-time on Gettysburg's outdoor top 10 list in the event. He captured first in the long jump (20-07.25) and 1,500-meter run (4:46.76).
The 4x400-meter relay team of freshman
Matthew Weller (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill), sophomore
Cael O'Brien (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough), junior
Savoy Drummond (Bronx, N.Y./Hun School of Princeton [N.J.]), and junior
Jimmy Barnes (Sea Girt, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) finished fourth with a 3:39.80 time.
Brown set a new PR in the javelin throw, tossing 171-05 to register second. Junior
Ken Barnes (Edison, N.J./Westminster School [Conn.]), placed third in the long jump (21-11.00), which ties him for 10th all-time at Gettysburg.
Other top performances for the Bullets include, Weller, who claimed seventh-place in the high jump with a new PR of 5-10.00, junior
Noah Bale (Hockessin, Del./Salesianum School), who came in tied for seventh in the pole vault, freshman
Fredrick Tubula (Narok, Kenya/Friends Select School) took sixth in the triple jump (42-04.75)
Three Bullets also competed at the Bucknell Invitational, senior
Alex Petrecca (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde), senior
Matt Robinson (Taneytown, Md./Pinkerton Academy [N.H.]), and sophomore
Dylan McKeever (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East). The trio all ran the 1,500-meter run with Petrecca placing 20th out of 120 competitors, setting a new PR of 3:57.85. McKeever finished with a time of 4:03.39 and Robinson finished with 4:16.50.
A small portion of the team will return for the second day of the Bucknell Outdoor Classic on Sunday.
