• The Short Story: After falling behind 2-0 early in the game the Johns Hopkins baseball team rallied, however, Franklin & Marshall outscored JHU 11-3 in the second half of the game to win game one by a score of 14-7. Â
How it Happened
• The Diplomats held a 2-0 lead after the top of the third, however the Blue Jays scored three in the third to tie the game.
Tim Kutcher hit a solo shot to right and
Mike Eberle came around to score on an F&M error.
AJ King later singled to center to give JHU a 3-2 lead.
• The Diplomats tied the game in the top of the fourth on a Matthew Kann homer but the Blue Jays regained the lead in the bottom of the frame on an RBI groundout by Eberle.
• F&M scored two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to take a 8-4 advantage.
• A sacrifice fly by King in the seventh made it an 8-5 game, but the Diplomats took control of the game in the ninth scoring six runs to take a 14-5 advantage.
• The Blue Jays added a run in the bottom of the ninth on a
Chris DeGiacomo two-run homer to right to make the score 14-7, but that was all the scoring for Hopkins.

• King led the way for the Blue Jays with two hits in the game as he went 2-3 with two RBI. DeGiacomo also finished the day with two RBI.

• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins baseball team locked up home-field advantage for the Centennial Conference Tournament with a dominating 15-0 victory over F&M on Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened
• Eberle opened the scoring for the Blue Jays with a two-RBI single to left. Hopkins then exploded for 11 runs in the third to take control of the game with a 13-0 lead.
• JHU added two more runs in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by DeGiacomo followed by a bases loaded walk by
James Ingram to make it a 15-0 lead
• McCracken was in control on the mound as he cruised through the Diplomat lineup allowing just two hits in his seven innings of work.
David Glass came on to work the final two innings on the mound as he worked around an error in the eighth by getting a double play and then retired the side in order in the ninth to seal the 15-0 Blue Jay win.
Inside the Box Score
• Eberle went 3-5 on the day with four RBI while DeGiacomo went 1-3 with three RBI. DeGiacomo now has a 19-game hitting streak.
• Kutcher, Ingram and
Mark Lopez all had two RBI in the game.
• McCracken notched his fifth win of the year with seven strong innings as he allowed just two hits and struck out three while walking just two.
What it Means
• With the win in game two, the Blue Jays will host the Centennial Conference Tournament for the 12
th time. Hopkins is the only school to qualify for every conference tournament (18).
• Johns Hopkins is 68-38-1 all-time against the Diplomats as the Blue Jays won the last meeting and have won 10 of the last 11 games between the two teams.
• The Blue Jays close the regular season with a 17-3 home record and have scored 10 runs or more in 10 of the 20 games played at Babb Field this season.
• The loss in game one was the first regular-season conference loss at home for Hopkins since April 30, 2016.
