GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Haverford College men's soccer team (1-4) prevailed by a 2-1 final in overtime at Arcadia (2-4) on Wednesday, rallying to knock off the host Knights for its first win of the 2021 season. Alex Millones tallied a 72nd minute equalizer, and then slotted the assist to Paul-Andre Coulibaly in the 92nd minute as the Fords claimed a sudden victory in their third consecutive overtime contest.

The Fords rocketed five shots in a scoreless first half, with an early flurry in the first 10 minutes of action as renewed intensity saw Ben Ward, Tomas Ascoli, Cyrus Nasseri and Millones all get solid looks at goal in the stretch. Coulibaly had his shot attempt blocked in the 42nd minute, and the two sides went to the intermission scoreless despite the Fords leading 5-3 in shots and dominating corner kicks with four in the first half to none for the hosts.

Arcadia broke through first, scoring on its first shot of the second period as Kenneth Marshman found Duncan O'Connor for the opening tally in the 48th minute. Haverford was determined to strike back, with Millones adding his second goal of the season and tying the score in the latter stages of the second half. Millones collected a deflection in the 18 and powered a twirling one-timer past the Arcadia goalkeeper and into the back of the net towards the far post in the 72nd minute to knot things up at 1-1. Now on the offensive for the deciding goal, Haverford had great looks on goal from Michael Lyons and Nasseri in the final 20 minutes, and Millones fired wide in the 85th minute before the game headed to the extra period. The Fords notched six shots in the second stanza, holding Arcadia to just two.

On the first offensive chance of the overtime period, Millones collected the ball near midfield and slotted an expertly-placed through ball to Coulibaly in the Haverford attacking third. Now perfectly positioned for the game-winner, Coulibaly still had two Arcadia defenders to beat but used some fancy footwork to evade their diving attempts, slotting the golden goal into the back of the net and sending Haverford to a raucous celebration.

Coulibaly and Millones both notched three shots on the afternoon, while Nasseri added two. Marshman and O'Connor each had two for the hosts. Dylan Ioffreda made one save in his 91:15 of work while the Fords earned seven corners and held Arcadia without a corner kick. The Fords will now look to capitalize on the momentum from the come-from-behind road victory, opening up the Centennial Conference slate at Dickinson on Saturday evening. Kick off is slated for 7 p.m. in Carlisle.
