GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's cross country team hosted the 53rd annual Little Three Meet on Friday. Leading the Bullets was junior Sam Sheldon (Tully, N.Y./Tully) who placed fourth among 39 runners while sophomore Dylan McKeever (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) finished right behind in fifth.
The Bullets defeated Franklin & Marshall College 18-45 but lost 38-21 to Dickinson. The Red Devils defeated F&M 17-46 and claimed its 22nd-straight Little Three Title.
Sheldon covered the 5,000-meter course in 16:22 while McKeever was close behind in 16:35.
Senior Alex Petrecca (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) was Gettysburg's third finisher, placing seventh in 16:40. The team scoring was rounded out by sophomore Christian Rodriguez (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) and freshman William Hopkins (Raleigh, N.C./Needham B. Broughton), who placed 12th (16:52) and 13th (16:53), respectively.
Finishing as displacers were senior's Matt Robinson (Taneytown, Md./Pinkerton Academy (N.H.)) and Mike Miller (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley), who came in 14th (16:55) and 16th (17:05), respectively.
Dickinson placed six runners in the top-10. The Red Devils were led by race winner Eric Herrmann (15:57), who also won last year's Little Three Meet.
Gettysburg continues its season next Saturday, when it competes at the Kutztown University DII/DIII Challenge.
