Christopher Newport Edges Johns Hopkins, 2-1

The Basics
• Score: #16 Christopher Newport-2, #5 Johns Hopkins-1
• Records: JHU (3-1) • CNU (3-1)
• Location: Jennings Stadium • Newport News, VA
• The Short Story: Host and 16th-ranked Christopher Newport rallied from an early deficit to defeat the fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon.

How it Happened
• Hopkins struck early, scoring just 4:37 into the game on just the third shot of the game. After twice having her shot stopped by the Captains' Marcella Sabbagh, sophomore Maddie Brown-Scherer finally banged home her third goal of the season.
• The lead was short-lived however as Christopher Newport cashed in on a penalty corner just 37 seconds later. Off the corner, Sabbagh passed to Bailey Miler, who tipped the ball past senior Jodie Baris on the left post.
• The Captains broke a lengthy stalemate with just 5:48 to play to take the 2-1 lead. Abby Asuncion took a shot that was saved by Baris, but Asuncion was able to stick home her own rebound.
