Hopkins Wraps Up Regular Season with 9-0 Win at Washington College

• The Short Story: The 14th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a 9-0 win at Washington College Saturday afternoon.
 
How it Happened
• The Blue Jays jumped out to a 3-0 lead on hosts by sweeping doubles with just five lost games. Sophomore Anjie Kashyap and junior Sophia Strickland needed just eight games to defeat Alisha White and Ella Samer at first. Freshmen Sophie Saland and Lillian Oliver then defeated Mariah Thomas and Sarah Bruno, 8-3, at third.
Freshmen Jessica Liang and Amanda Ruci closed out doubles with an 8-2 win at second over Riley Katzman and Cecilia Cress.
• Ruci pushed Hopkins' lead to 4-0 as she lost just one game in her win over Bruno at fourth singles. Strickland followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Samer at second to clinch the win for the Jays. Kashyap then beat White 6-1, 6-1 at first.
• Liang rallied to defeat Cress at third 1-6, 6-3, 1-0 (8) to put Hopkins on top 7-0. Oliver did lose a game in her win over Hayley Sanchez at sixth. Saland then closed out the match with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Thomas at fifth.
 
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 27-11 all-time against Washington College and wins its 20th straight in the series.
• The Blue Jays complete their 13th straight undefeated season in Centennial Conference play. JHU has now won 130 consecutive regular season conference matches. The Blue Jays lost just one individual match and six total sets in 10 conference matches this season.
 
Up Next
• Hopkins will host the Centennial Conference Tournament next weekend at the JHU Tennis Courts. JHU will face the winner of Gettysburg-Franklin & Marshall in the semifinals on Saturday, May 4.
