Women's Lacrosse Falls to Washington in Opener

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's lacrosse team played in their season opener on Saturday against Washington College, falling by a count of 18-3 on Patterson Field.

Saturday marked the first game in 389 days for the Bears, while Washington College (3-2, 2-1) was playing in its fifth game of the spring. That experience showed early on as the Shorewomen scored the game's first two goals.

Katherine Eckhoff found Hanna Crowley cutting inside to put the Bears on the board, with Crowley turning to fire a beautiful shot top shelf into the back of the net. However, just 16 seconds later, Washington College answered with its third goal of the afternoon. The Shorewomen went on to score six unanswered before Abby Krasutsky found the back of the net with a little over 1:30 left in the opening half.

Washington College opened the second half with seven straight goals as Ursinus went down, 15-2. Crowley ended the scoring run with her second goal of the game. The Shorewomen scored three more to end the game as the Bears fell, 18-3.

Alexa Machado tallied 15 saves on 33 shots faced. Crowley led the Bears attack with five shots on goal.
