The Muhlenberg wrestling team won its first two dual matches of the 2022-23 season, blanking Penn State Mont Alto 52-0 before defeating host Penn College, 35-10.

A trio of Mule sophomores, Nico Berlingeri (165), Anson Dewar (174) and Paul Parise (197) won two contested bouts each.

Muhlenberg picked up six forfeit wins against Penn State Mont Alto, including the first five weight classes before Berlingeri pinned his opponent in the opening period of the first contested bout. The shutout win was the first for the Mules away from home since the 2014-15 season.

The Mules had to stage a comeback against Penn College after falling behind, 10-6, with a pin by sophomore Brian McCaw at 125 accounting for their lone points. Reigning Centennial Conference wrestler of the week Brandon Bowles scored a major decision to tie the match, and Berlingeri followed with a major of his own to put Muhlenberg ahead to stay.

Dewar (pictured above) followed by pinning his opponent in a career-best 38 seconds.

Decisions by Parise and the fourth pin of the season for freshman Ben Krauss closed out the win.
