After scoring her first career goal to win Saturday's game in overtime, sophomore
Maleah Hess scored the first two goals in Muhlenberg field hockey's 4-0 win over King's
Â
The second of her two goals sparked a three-goal second quarter for the Mules. Midway through the frame Hess scored on a penalty corner that was inserted to junior
Marlee Siegel who then fed Hess on the left elbow of the circle. Just over a minute later, freshman
Alexandra Gann set up junior
Rachel Richards in front of the cage with a pass from outside the circle on the left side.
Â
Tietz (pictured above) concluded the scoring when she cleaned up a scrum in front of the goalmouth late in the frame for her first goal of the season.
Â
Muhlenberg racked up eight penalty corners over the course of the first half and converted all three second-quarter shots.
Â
The Mules' 4-0 start is the program's first since 2016. Consequently, that was also the last time the team posted four consecutive shutouts, defeating Franklin & Marshall, Swarthmore, Gettysburg and Moravian by a combined 16-0. The Moravian game marked the last time the team scored four goals in a half; the 9-0 win came on the heels of four goals in the first half and five in the second.
